Graphic Design
My name is Luke Stoiber and I am a graphic designer and illustrator based in Medford, OR.
Ever since I can remember I have always been interested in art, advertisements, product packaging, and clothing design. As a designer, I am constantly in search of the most creative and functional ways to express a product, brand, or message. I believe that putting the user or viewer first in design is the key to creating a more beautiful world. I love working in teams where open and effective communication is valued to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner. While this is true, I also know how to lead a project from idea to completion on my own. I take time to discuss client/leader needs to ensure assignments are understood before and during the design process.
Graphic Design Process
My design process always begins with the assignment brief, research, and brainstorming. Once the concept is understood, I transition my thoughts into a layout sketch. I continue by outlining my sketch in a program such as Adobe Illustrator. After completing the design, experimenting with it, and preparing several renditions of the idea; the design is complete and ready to present/deliver. I keep clients up-to-date on each step of the process as well as ensure their full satisfaction with the finished product.

Illustration
My main motivation to pursue a career in the creative industry is my love for drawing. As much as I love to create, I am even more thrilled when my artwork brings joy to other people. I tend to use my artwork as a way to understand myself as well as communicate my thoughts and emotions. My subject matter tends to focus on humans, plants, animals, and our relationship to our environment. My style often involves defined black lines to show what is in focus while moving subjects or things farther away appear in less detail and with more expressive line qualities.
Painting & Inking Process
My painting and inking process almost always begins with an initial concept. I begin each piece by choosing a canvas size that fits my idea. With something in mind, I sketch out my ideas until I’m satisfied with the composition. Sometimes I will re-sketch my idea in better detail before proceeding to redraw it onto a canvas or clean page. I often draw my concept onto a fresh surface or use a lightbox tracing method to set the layout. Once the layout is complete, I then fill in my work with color and linework. I love to use Copic Sketch markers and Micron pens for more detailed pieces. I enjoy using Micron pens to outline watercolor paintings and ink drawings. I make it a habit to sign all of my work with either my name or my initials.
